LED PCB -The Most Useful Introduction

The evolution in PCB technology has brought the world to re-innovate the application of circuits, especially in Light Emitting Diodes LEDs. The LED is the device that emits light rays in the visible region upon giving voltage at its terminals. The LED has positive (anode) and negative (cathode) polarities. The LEDs are soldered on the PCB and applied electrical interconnection to illuminate. The heat produced by these LED PCBs is so great that it requires the ceramic-based thermal sink to dissipate heat.

What is LED PCB

Aluminum is commonly used in manufacturing circuit boards for LED lights. PCB/PWB has a thermally conductive thin layer of dielectric material that can efficiently dissipate heat compared to traditional rigid PCBs.

LED PCB Applications

Due to their combination of excellent energy efficiency, low cost, and maximum design flexibility. There are many applications of LED lights PCBs, including traditional home appliances like LED Lights, Automobile lights, emergency lights, solar-powered street LED lights, flashlights, and LED torches. Copper alloy or CEM3 PCBs are used instead of the standard FR4 substrate due to their high heat dissipation.

The aluminium base

The aluminum base with thermal conductive dielectraluminum has improved thermal expansion characteristics. The dimensional stability of metallic base PCB is more than FR4 insulating material.

Types of Aluminum

Flexible Aluminum

Polyamide resins are used with ceramic fillers to provide excellent insulation and flexibility while maintaining aluminum thermal conductivity.

Hybrid Aluminum

A non-thermal material merged with aluminum metal makes hybrid aluminum. The non-thermal material here is FR4. It provides rigidity while maintaining aluminum super thermal conductivity.

Multi-layer Aluminum

In highly complex PCBs, the multi-layer aluminum provides excellent thermal conductivity and excellent heat transfer. The advantage of LED light PCBs is low power consumption, free of mercury, high efficiency, compact and long life.
